Optus To Offer Foxtel Again In 2011

Back in the ’90s, Optus and Telstra fought a big battle over PayTV, stringing up cables and digging up trenches all over the country. But then Optus lost that battle and stopped selling PayTV last year. Now Mumbrella is reporting that from next year, the Telco will begin selling Foxtel to cable customers again, including the HD channels.

From February, Optus will begin selling Foxtel again, including both Cable and Satellite customers, with the option to bundle packages and offer HD channels via the iQ2 Box. Given the rise of digital multichanneling on free to air and the growth of IPTV over the past 12 months, Foxtel really needs to be trying to get into as many homes as possible, and this is a good move for them. Hopefully we’ll see some good deals in the new year…
