Robots. That word seems so fitting for what they are but obviously it wasn’t always that way, someone had to invent that word after all. And did you know that the inventor, Czech playwright Karel Čapek, almost called them “labori”? Can you imagine?
After what must have been a passionate debate, the American Dialect Society has deemed “app” the 2010 Word of the Year, beating out Cookie Monster’s “nom”. It sounds like we need to get our consumption priorities straight.
A UK for-profit firm called The Gadget Helpline surveyed 5,000 people to ferret out the industry’s most confusing tech jargon. Luckily, they found most of the top 10 confusing terms are antiquated or proprietary:
