It’s been a long time coming — and hardly a secret — but Telstra’s confirmed that it’ll be selling its first 4G Windows Phone 7 handset — and only its third 4G handset overall — from next Tuesday.
That’s the HTC Titan II standing tall in the new Telstra consumer catalogue — teased as Australia’s first 4G Windows Phone…and arguably the best Win Phone this side of a Nokia; complete with 16-megapixel camera and 4.7-inch (480×800) display.
We already knew that Telstra had an aggressive 4G rollout strategy — no doubt wanting to own the 4G space before Optus gets a hand in — with plans to release “three or four” 4G phones by mid-April. We’ve already seen one — the HTC Velocity 4G — and it now appears that the second will be the HTC Titan II.
With Mobile World Congress having concluded, the smartphone market is seriously heating up. But which of the super phones coming soon will be your next handset? Here’s how these upcoming beasts compare.
The Titan II is the good kind of sequel: It doesn’t screw up anything that made the original a fan favorite, but it adds everything they want. Like a crazy 16-megapixel camera, LTE (at least on AT&T over in the States) and a massiver battery.
Exciting times are afoot if you’re coming off contract soon. Australia’s first 4G phone (the Velocity 4G) arrived yesterday, alongside the Samsung Omnia W, our first second-gen Windows Phone. Then there are upcoming phones like the HTC Titan II, Sony Xperia S, Nokia Lumia 900 and the Asus Padfone. Here’s how these upcoming beasts compare.
