Whoa! While Starbucks’ coffee may not be the greatest, they have locations just about everywhere, including some 10,000 in the US alone. According to the company’s official Twitter, you’ll be able to get free, 1-click, no registration Wi-Fi at all the US locations starting July 1. Presumably indefinitely. That’s news even coffee snobs can get excited about.
Starting today, Foursquare Mayors of Starbucks in the US can cash in their hard-earned virtual reputation in the form of a $US1 coupon. Frappucinos may taste awful but slightly cheaper Frappucinos should be drunk proudly.
Jumping drastically from 16 stores to well over 1000, Starbucks branches within Target stores in the US are now accepting payment via the Starbucks Card Mobile iPhone app. It works by displaying a QR code, which the hot little barista behind the counter can scan and then bill you for. Remember the extremely popular and touching Stand By Me video? That was recorded in a virtual studio around the world during different days. Here’s the not-less-touching “All You Need Is Love”, recorded in 156 countries at exactly the same time…
This intriguing dude is watching a black-and-white TV, with a DTV converter box, in a Starbucks. Hey, it’s not his fault Hulu doesn’t carry Jeopardy!, right? [Kansas City Blog via Boing Boing Gadgets]

All iPhone users get free AT&T Wi-Fi, hurray. But the text-message-based access system makes it a pain in the arse to log onto. Enter Easy Wi-Fi for AT&T, an app that makes it, well, easy. When you fire up the app for the first time, you just enter your number. After that, when you hit an AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot, like at Harbucks, you just mash a giant button to log in, no hassle required. Ars says Devicescape is planning more automated connection apps for other operators, AT&T is just the first, thanks to the “approval store nightmare.” It’s free until Friday, then it jumps to $US1.99.
