Bad news has come for bargain hunters in the lead-up to the launch of the PS Vita: Big W, Target and K-Mart will not be stocking the Sony handheld console.
We’ve just gotten confirmation from JB Hi-Fi that the retailer will no longer be taking pre-orders for, or selling, the 3G version of the PlayStation Vita and is limiting its stock to the Wi-Fi version of the console only.
Sony has announced overnight that Vodafone is its preferred partner for 3G data services in Australia and is providing a number of incentives to encourage consumers to choose Vodafone over other 3G networks.
The pricing of the PlayStation Vita has raised some eyebrows. Most expected the Wi-Fi enabled version to retail at $349.95, but $449.95 for the 3G Vita? That’s a bit too much to take for some. As a result you may find yourself tempted to import a 3G unit from overseas, but before you do, you might want to double check a few things.

Sony has not been forthcoming with dates for the PlayStation Vita launch, but according to a US Blockbuster flyer, it could be arriving on October 28 — at least, in the UK anyway. [IGN]
