Thinkway Toys's Pixar desk accessory/lamp/toy/thingamabob has a Luxo Jr. that moves and illuminates exactly like in the movie. As you can see in the video, you can activate it with a motion sensor and a remote control, a key ring in the shape of the the ball. It's cool for a piece of plastic, but I wish it really was a full-scale robot version of the iconic Luxo lamp that Pixar used in their second short. Hopefully we will have one of those next decade. Maybe it was a miscalculation, or perhaps it is Disney trying to capitalise on the success of the film, but the Ultimate Wall-E remote controlled robot is now available for pre-order at US$250--about US$60 more than originally expected. Not a big deal, though--this toy is so feature-packed, it is almost like having the real thing. [Disney]

Wall-E might be the most sympathetic, lovable robot ever created on film. While R2-D2 was hilarious and endearing, he had the benefit of C3PO to translate for him and a cast of human characters to carry the weight of the story. At the end of the day, R2-D2 was simply comic relief, but his descendant, whose voice was also created by Ben Burtt, is so full of humanity that you feel like your heart might just burst. Simply put, Wall-E is a masterpiece.

Fans of retro-styled poster art and Pixar films can now buy Eric Tan's 1950s throwback WALL-E prints. The WALL-E designs, which include pictures of Wall-E and Eve next to slogans such as "The Future is NOW!" were previously handed out as promotional postcards at the San Diego Comic Con 2007. These new poster-size versions measure 33 by 48 cms and cost US$165 unframed.

It was only a matter of time before someone decided to tackle a Lego version of Disney-Pixar's cute little cash cow Wall-E. After a three month planning session, Joe Meno, editor of BrickJournal magazine, managed to get the job done.
