We’ve heard ridiculous things about the Nikon D4′s low-light performance: In short, word was that you can basically take great photos in a cave. We didn’t go spelunking, but we did put this $US6000 monster through its low light paces, and the results were even better than we’d hoped.
If you’re going to lay down $US6000 for the super-fast, low-light stalking Nikon D4, you might as well pony up another $US900 for the WT-5 dongle that cuts the cord. Or why not string 10 D4s together? Wireless bullet time at a cost of $US69,000.
Yesterday Nikon revealed its D800 DSLR leaving photo and video nerds alike salivating for samples. Eager to show off the D800′s video capabilities, Nikon left it to filmmaker Sandro Miller to create a film meant to make us drool. And so we have Joy Ride, which chronicles the journey of one man and his motorcycle… and not much else aside from a superfluously gross childbirth scene.
Every year, Nikon’s Small World in Motion Competition rounds up the best microscopic videos from scientists across the world. The results are strange but beautiful, and the winner will make you think about your breakfast in a completely different light.
Nikon’s new D800 SLR is a study in expectations and identity. Laid bare, the $US3000 D800 is an impressive camera. But it’s probably not the D800 that a lot of Nikon fans have been waiting for — what some feel they’d been virtually promised.
A daring thief and/or desperate photographer just made off with an official Nikon van. The cargo? $US150,000 worth of cameras and accessories, including the unreleased D4 and D800. Nikon wants their goodies back. Here’s the list:
The Nikon Coolpix P310 is another point and shoot — except it’s completely gorgeous. The boxy design is a matte slate of black perfection. Everyone line is clean, every centimetre accounted for, every button well-placed. Make more things like this.
Nikon’s new P510 superzoom crams 1000mm and 42x optical zoom of super telephoto capability into a compact camera, the longest optical zoom ever stuffed into a compact camera. The P500 the 510′s replacing is 36x, and Canon’s PowerShot SX40 HS comes in at 35x.
The hugely-anticipated Nikon D800 might be hitting soon — like a week and a half soon. Nikon rumours claims the impending mega-DSLR will shoot 36 megapixels, confirming earlier speculation. And it’ll kick off on February 7.
If you’re used to shooting with an everyday DSLR, the Nikon D4 is like holding fully-automatic machine gun for the first time.
