Indeed, this Mickey Mouse TV mount looks like something you would have seen alongside the robot heads and Peter Pan golf carts in Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch.
I love Transformers and I love Disney, but it never occurred to me that they’d go together. Luckily for us, Japanese toy makers are much better than I at coming up with cross-promotional products.
iRiver has updated their potentially cancer-causing, child-warping Mickey Mouse MP3 players with something even better: demonic powers! Yes, it now has glowing LED (light-emitting demon) eyes. No specs on what horrible, disfiguring things it’ll do to you and your children, but Disney sorcery is pretty potent stuff. Oh, it also has 2GB of storage for MP3 or WMA files. You can gaze directly into its burning eyes in the super close-up below, but if it compels you to stab yourself in the brain with a fork, don’t hold us responsible.
Stick two spheres onto a larger one, and what do you have? An opportunity to take the Mickey, and create gizmos that “borrow” someone’s trademark, that’s what… and this Mousephone looks devoid of Disney marks. That said, it’s not hugely bigger than the genuine iRiver Mplayer, but crams in a tri-band GSM phone with 1.3-inch screen, MP3/MP4 playback, FM radio, stereo Bluetooth and keypad. One ear conceals a 1.3-megapixel camera, and it’s even got passable battery life: around 3-4 hours talk, and 150-190 hours standby. The 2-inch phone is available for around US$225. Don’t show your kids or you know you’ll be buying one. [Specialphones via Gizmodiva]
The Mickey MP3 player that we’ve shown you when it was only available in Korea, and again when it was gold-plated, is finally making its way to the US today, with one slight caveat: “This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, or birth defects or other reproductive harm.” That’s right, the same Mickey Mouse you loved in childhood could be adding extra limbs on your own children. Then again, it’s only US$70, stores 1GB, and has 9 hours of playback time, so, pick your battles. [product page]
The worst thing about this official A-Data Mickey Mouse USB flash drive is that I can think of about five adults I know who’d love one. The modular design conceals the mini 2GB drive as one of Mickey’s ears, the other ear being pierced for pendants or charms. The clear plastic centre even pops out so you can slide in a photo of your loved one. We don’t know when these 1.5-inch wide Megabyte Mickeys will be available, or how much they’ll cost. But we do know your trinket obsessed, computer-savvy young daughter will want one. [EverythingUSB]
iRiver’s Mplayer, the Mickey Mouse-themed music player, has been given the bling treatment just in time for Christmas. Just 500 of these glittery rodent-redolent MP3- and WMA-compatible players have been made, and they come with lanyard-style earphones.
There’s 1GB storage space, and you skip songs by twisting Mickey’s left ear — exactly what I do to my “special friend” when I want him to change the TV channel. Price is 16,800¥, or around $150. [Impress] More »
No, this isn’t Steampunk Willie. The 2007 Software Exhibition of Korea kicked off today, and iRiver showcased a few new concept images for its upcoming MP3 player collaboration with Disney. The player is slated to be a plump but minuscule 3cm tall (a 1:1 ratio model of the real Mickey, perhaps?), hold 1GB of music, and sell for a projected $50. Of course, when looking at the designs one question still remains: What about those ears, do they swivel? More »
A new Mickey shaped music product is in the works, and unlike this crazy speaker set, Disney actually appears to be involved, along with iRiver. Molded after Mickey’s bulbous likeness (and Minnie’s, of course), the screenless flash player is due to hit Asia soon.
The ears, mind you, are not just for show. Flick one to or fro to adjust volume; do the same on the other to change tracks. More »
