12:00AM Jesus Diaz | This is the World’s Fastest Kettle. That’s what Charles Burnett III calls his steam supercar, which will race at 270kph over the Mojave Desert this coming June. Yes, I can’t believe it either.

The ±0 Electric Kettle From Japan
12:30AM Brian Lam | I’ve been thinking of getting an electric kettle for some time, and I think I’ve found the most simple, beautiful one I could ever hope for. The small container’s power cord is stored inside the base, explaining that one seam you see running around the base of the unit. I’ll have to pick this up in Japan or ask Doug to send one back on his next trip. [+- via Core77] More »

Clara Kettle from Bodum Clearly Best Boiler Evah
9:00PM Gizmodo US Edition | Tea Drinkers of the Giz unite! And get me a Bodum Clara kettle for my birthday next month, please (I share it with Ringo Starr, useless-fact fans). Made of borosilicate glass, which keeps the water smell-, taste- and taint-free, it weighs less than 500 grams and holds 1.75 litres of water. The Clara has got a blue stopper on the spout which makes it whistle like a horny construction worker, and it can be used on electric and gas stoves, as well as ceramic hobs. You can even put it in the microwave if you remove the lid and whistle, but what is the point of that? Microwaves and tea bags/tea leaves should not even be in the same sentence, let alone the same process. Bodum’s beautiful kettle costs US$60. [Bodum online shop via Cool Hunting] More »

Breville ikon Combines Tea and Toast (into Teast)
6:30AM Mark Wilson | I doubt that it’s all that more space efficient to combine kitchen gadgets, but it can certainly save you a few precious counter plugs. The ikon by Breville combines your toaster with a kettle, the perfect breakfast machine for when your visiting friends from overseas ask for something other than your trademark Egg McMuffin on a plate. At US$130, it’s the same price as Breville’s LED-gauged standalone toaster. So before dropping any cash, decide if it’s more important for you to have hot water or a kitchen that glows as unnaturally bright as your entertainment centre. [product via Techfresh] More »

Tefal Quick Cup Boils Water Faster Than You Can Read This Abnormally Long Headline That We Are Stretching Out OK Done
7:20AM Jason Chen | Does the ability to heat a cup of water in 3 seconds interest you? Then take a look at this Teal quick Cup, which produces hot (we’re not sure if it’s near boiling) water by spinning the cold water you pour in around the spiral heating element. Not only is it fast, it’s supposedly more efficient than a standard kettle or hot water heater because it only needs to be “on” for those three-ish seconds. Useful for your instant cups of tea or filling up a bathtub the dumb way. [Quickcup via Giz Mag via Boing Boing Gadgets] More »
