The iPad 2 Smart Cover is pretty cool and all, but this cherrywood Minot cover, which has the same wake/sleep functionality as the real smart cover, and rolls up into a stand, has me reconsidering my options.
TwelveSouth’s BookBook case, which we’ve admired before for it’s nice leather exterior and adjustable stand mechanism, has been updated to play nice with the iPad 2. It’s still $US70. [TwelveSouth]
Kevin Fox, lead designer at Mozilla Labs, thinks the iPad 2 is using pogo pins instead of the more traditional switch contacts. They’ve actually filed patents for the pogo pin style headphone jack (which is smaller) before and have been interested in re-making the headphone jack entirely. The difference is super slight but Fox thinks it makes the headphone jack waterproof. Not that your iPad is, though. [Fury]
Another year has passed, and another iPad has surfaced from the shadowy Cupertino mist. But you know what else has resurfaced? The iPad suit. Yep, Mohan’s, the NYC tailoring outpost, is still offering to add an oversized “iPad pocket” to their suit coats, which is a perfectly good way to take the class out of that suit you paid hundreds of dollars for. I’m sure they trimmed down the pocket to better fit the iPad 2 or something, but really, does it even matter? Even more cringe-inducing, they’ve expanded their offerings to include overcoats and other outerwear.
