Google’s not saying much about it, but one can’t help but think the company’s late-week acquisition of open-source home theatre and DVR software developer SageTV is related to its struggling Google TV offering.

The latest Samsung announcement out of CES is that they’re going to be releasing two new Google TV products: a Blu-ray player and a set-top box, complete with a specialised QWERTY remote.
Next month is CES – you could call it the highlight of the tech industry’s calendar, but I prefer calling it “hell”. You’d think we’d be seeing heaps of new Google TV hardware there. But no – Google isn’t ready.
