OK, so the character of the Doctor is, according to the series’ increasingly confused chronology 1,103 years old. But the TV series first went to air forty-eight years ago today… which is to say, tomorrow. Anyone got a TARDIS I can borrow to sort this out?
The BBC’s released the trailer and title for this year’s Christmas special, and it’s reported we won’t have to wait too long to see it here in Australia, either. Also, that costume that the BBC’s auctioning off? Matt Smith is… ahem… not wearing it. If you know what I mean.
The BBC’s offering up one of the current Doctor’s outfits for charity sale. That’s not something that happens often at all that often, and not shockingly, the bidding is rather brisk.
I might be a bit busy for the rest of the day. I’ve got to march on Hollywood with a burning torch, and I’m told that’s a rather long and wet walk from Sydney. The reason for my outrage? Hollywood’s planning a series of Doctor Who films. History suggests they’ll be anything but good.

Not to mention warping my funny bone in just the right way, and allowing me to use the phrase “Check out that funky Ood” in the Giz offices. It’s also a step back in time to when David Tennant was still Doctor Who — just.
OK, so the Doctor Who Wii game was a steaming load of slitheen dung, but the accompanying Wiimote, styled after the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver is pretty cool if you’re a Who fan. I am, so the fact that Mighty Ape’s got them today for $24 is a great deal. Update: With thanks to Jo and rekuhs for pointing it out, OzGameShop has the exact same thing for $16.99. Even cheaper! [OzGameshop or Mighty Ape]
The BBC’s VOD iPlayer App went live overnight. There’s a lot to like — and a lot of value on offer at least for the first month. I’m a little concerned about its long term value, though.
Some good news for Doctor Who fans – according to an interview on TV Tonight, the ABC is planning on fast tracking the UK sci-fi show to Australian TV sets this year.
