Reading comics on the new iPad’s retina screen is about to get a lot better. New comics from Marvel, DC, Image and other major comic publishers are all available in retina-level resolution, and back issues and indie comics should follow suit very shortly.
Digital comics are one of the most embraced parts of print publishing going digital, but for whatever reason, comic book publisher websites are consistent eyesores. DC’s launching a new site to try to fix that, and it’s going to bribe you to get there with exclusives on upcoming events like Before Watchmen, the controversial prequel to Alan Moore’s masterpiece Watchmen.
The first issue of Action Comics sold for 10 US cents in 1938 and featured a brand new hero: Superman. Fast forward 73 years and that same comic leaps to over $US2 million dollars in a single bound.
I’m not much of a DC Comics fan — Ryan Reynolds as The Green Lantern took care of that — but this meticulously-crafted diorama of an assault on the Daily Planet is just jaw-dropping. Check out the full image after the jump.
I’m a total sucker for superhero movies (OK, Green Lantern sucked), so I’ve been looking forward to the trailer for the new Spidey reboot. But damn, this first trailer is a totally rip off of EA’s Mirror’s Edge game. See for yourself:
