Beijing Clinic Using Stem Cells as Eternal Youth Beauty Treatment
6:00PM Elaine Chow | While we debate the morality of stem cell usage here, China’s gone ahead and started marketing it as a beauty product. A Beijing medical centre is offering “age-reversing” stem cell therapy for your face. More »

Japanese Beauty Products Use Brute Force to Make You Fabulous
8:30AM Jack Loftus | If you think parts of your face are out of proportion, like some Japanese people apparently do, there are tools available today that can help correct your ugliness. No, not plastic surgery. Too messy. Too obvious. I’m talking about tools like Kogao Meiku Beruto (small face make belt), which wrap your misshapen melon in gentle fabric, and bind those unsightly bulges and that caveman forehead into oblivion. The Tex Mex men’s mouth narrower, on the other hand, is straight out of a Saw movie. More »

‘Abdominal Etching’ Provides a Six Pack Without the Exercise
2:20AM Adam Frucci | Do you want a hot set of washboard abs to impress the ladies with? Are you also much too lazy to actually do the situps required to get them naturally? Good news, America! You can get “abdominal etching” done, a form of plastic surgery that gives you a six pack without the work. For a mere $4,000 to $7,000 you too can have an awkward combo of manboobs and a sixpack to confuse and perhaps titillate the ladies. Stay tuned for a review of the procedure by our very own Jason Chen, god willing. [WSJ via Neatorama] More »

Lancôme Makes Itself Useful With Unique Magnetic Nail Polish Gadget for Gals
12:31AM Charlie White | Overpriced makeup purveyor Lancôme decided to actually do something innovative for a change rather than just creating fancy containers. The result is a Le Magnetique, nail polish with different-colored magnetic particles mixed in. Here’s where Lancôme’s specialty, the container, comes into play. While the polish is still wet, hold the container’s sleeve next to that goop on your nails, and the shiny metallic particles organize themselves into charming starburst patterns. Those magnetically organized designs are even more noticeable in direct sunlight. Get yourself a bottle for $17 and try it out yourself. Told ya it was overpriced. Spock-Ear Plastic Surgery Mod is Not Logical
11:22PM Charlie White | Ever thought of getting yourself a permanent pair of Star Trek Vulcan ears? A day trip to the plastic surgeon can get that done for you. This body modification is said to enhance the music listening experience, but then, you have to go around looking like Spock to enjoy that questionable benefit. Done under local anesthesia, the plastic surgeon uses existing ear cartilage and skin to extend the top of the ear, and after three to four weeks, it’s healed up enough for you to convincingly start telling people to live long and prosper. But what if your new ears make music sound worse? There’s no word on how difficult it is to reverse the surgery. Maybe there’s a way to test out the effect before you take the plunge. Hey, all the hepcats in New York are doing it, so it must be cool. [Plasmetic] More »
