Colorware Adds Visual Spice to iPods, Better Scratch Protection For iPod Touch

8:40AM Jason Chen | We’ve covered Colorware’s professional gadget painting in the past—and were more than satisfied after seeing their work close up, but their latest iPod colouring seems to be more than just cosmetic. The iPod Nano 2G colour-coats the shiny silver metallic back with a colour layer, which most likely handles fingerprints and scratches better than the original surface. They also paint iPod Nano 4G and iPod Classic as well as iPhone 3G, so you’ve got options on those devices as well. The process is not all that cheap ($US125 to send yours in), but it’s definitely worth it considering that they do a great job and you’ll be using these gadgets for years. [Colorware] More »

iPhone 3G Now in Multiple (Unofficial) Colours

7:20AM Mark Wilson | If there’s a gadget that can use a new coat of paint, Colorware is almost always on the scene first (with pretty good results). But if there’s ever been a gadget just begging for colour, it’s the iPhone 3G and its glossy, plastic back. For US$150, Colorware will give you that burst of backside colour you’ve always wanted, and for US$20 more, you can customise the button and frame. As for the matte around the screen, that can come in any colour, too, as long as it’s black. [colorware] More »

Colorware’s Matte Black iPhone Fools Friends, Bloggers

3:24AM Jason Chen | It’s not the 3G iPhone, but Colorware’s Stealth iPhone trades in the silver trim and brushed metal back for an entirely matte black motif. It’s also extraordinarily expensive, weighing in at $US675 and $US775 to the stock model’s $US399 and $US499. Colorware does throw in a matte black iPhone dock and pair of earbuds, but even that probably doesn’t justify the increased cost. Then again, some people really love black. [Colorware] More »

BlackBerry Curve, Pearl and 8800 Get the Colorware Treatment

5:15AM Jason Chen | Colorware, the company that spruces up iPods, iMacs, iPhones, Zunes and Xbox 360s are coming back with a series of new items starting with BlackBerries on New Year’s Eve. If you don’t already have a BlackBerry Curve, Pearl or 8800 series, you can pick one up pre-colored directly from them. If you already do have one, you can send your current phone in for colourisation. Then again, if you do have a BB, you’re probably some kind of corporate “business dude” that might not want their phones accessorised in this way. You be the judge. Colorware Paints iMac, iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod classic

6:40AM Jason Chen | Continuing their trend of painting up gadgets you love, Colorware has extended their painting expertise to the iPod touch/nano/cassic as well as the iMac, ensuring your drapes always match the carpet. And if you want to see close-up shots to illustrate why their work warrants a somewhat premium price and is better than a crappy do-it-yourself job, take a look at our Colorware Xbox 360 gallery. Although spray painting in your garage with the windows closed does have its perks. [Colorware] More »
