The cast of Jurassic World 2 continues to grow. Patrick Stewart doesn’t think he’s done with X-Men movies. The actor behind Jughead has a surprising theory about who killed Jason Blossom on Riverdale. Plus, new footage from Life, and Once Upon a Time sets itself up for a potential soft-reboot. Jurassic World 2
The ever-reliable James Cromwell has joined the cast in an unspecified role. Like most of the esteemed character actors joining the film, chances are astronomically high his character will meet some grisly, undignified end. [THR]
The Predator
Producer Boyd Holbrook doesn’t think Arnold will return for another round with the trophy-hunting aliens:
Shane Black has made something totally new, somehow keeping within the realm of ‘Predator’ [while also being] absolutely new in terms of the story that we’re talking about today, and rooted in something real. It’s real fresh. I don’t think you’re going to see [Arnold] Schwarzenegger. It would kind of make it a gimmick. It’s horror, science-fiction and a western.
Logan
Sir Patrick Stewart told Entertainment Tonight he isn’t ready to stop playing Professor X.
Hugh has raised the flag that says goodbye. I haven’t done that yet.
Hugh Jackman, though, told the outlet that he still isn’t convinced he’ll be returning for Deadpool 2 or any other future movie as Wolverine:
There is not a frame of this film where I can’t say I didn’t put everything into it. I couldn’t have made this film if I didn’t make the decision within myself that this was the last one. I just didn’t compromise on anything. I was a pain to a lot of people, because I don’t get another shot at this. This is a character I love. I owe my career to this character.
Tremors 6
Production has begun on a sixth Tremors film, which is currently filming in Cape Town, South Africa (the location of Tremors 5: The Worst One Yet), but will itself be set in the Canadian Arctic tundra. Here’s the synopsis:
Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) and his son Travis Welker (Jamie Kennedy) find themselves up to their ears in Graboids and Arse-Blasters when they head to Canada to investigate a series of deadly giant-worm attacks. Arriving at a remote research facility in the arctic tundra, Burt begins to suspect that Graboids are secretly being weaponised, but before he can prove his theory, he is sidelined by Graboid venom. With just 48 hours to live, the only hope is to create an antidote from fresh venom — but to do that, someone will have to figure out how to milk a Graboid!

Inhumans/The Sub-Mariner
Marvel TV seemingly has some big plans for Namor, one of its oldest superheroes. Yesterday a Hawaii-based filming Twitter account on social media posted the rumour that the islands would be home not just to filming for Aquaman, but also a Marvel project titled “The Sub-Mariner”, Namor’s commonly-acknowledged title.

The rumour was then given even more credence by a Production Weekly preview that also listed “The Sub-Mariner” as an upcoming project. The title makes it seem like it would be a solo Namor series, but interestingly, we recently learned that the Inhumans TV project would be heading to Hawaii to film out of a former Navy base. Even though Namor is Marvel’s first mutant character, he’s had a bit of history with the Inhumans in his long career, so it’s possible “The Sub-Mariner” might not be his own project, but something connected to an appearance in Inhumans.
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Natalie Dormer is set to star in the Australian TV series based on Peter Weir’s cult classic 1975 film — which, in turn, was based on the novel by Joan Lindsay. Unfortunately, there are no details about the role just yet. [Deadline]
Riverdale
Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead, has given an extremely lengthy theory to KSite TV putting forward his belief that it’s actually his character who killed Jason Blossom.
From the very beginning, I have thought Jughead was the killer. That was informed by a bunch of different things, and the narrative still rings true. Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] wrote Afterlife with Archie in which Jughead was the antagonist and in this dark version of the universe as well, Jughead had a shifty, outsider perspective. He’s also the only one that speaks to the audience and break fourth wall, which gives him the ability to inform the audience that he’s the killer without having to inform any of the cast living in Riverdale, which ends up being a kind of dubious position to take. I’m not going to spoil too much but that’s where I had planted myself from the very beginning;the notion that Jughead was some sort of creepy kid.
The way that I had read Jughead is that he really considers himself to be a special snowflake. I think anyone who takes a stance as the observer and the watcher and someone who can write ‘objectively’ about other people fashions themselves not with a superiority complex to to speak but at least with this idea that they are qualified to do so, which complicates where Jughead stands. I also think he’s one of those guys who would much quicker criticise someone else’s moral complex than point the fingers at himself. I think he judges and he builds his own personality based on how other people act within the town.
Including himself within the narrative of Jason Blossom’s murder is really an exercise in self for Jughead, but he has a personal stake in it as well. He’s a member of this small town that’s deeply interwoven with this tragedy and so aside from a personal stake, and across the latter half of the season and really from episode 7 onward, you find out that Jughead has a tremendous stake in Jason Blossom’s murder case and it really ends up getting revealed over time.
The Flash
A brief, but ominous, new synopsis for “The Wrath of Savitar” has been released:
While training with Barry (Grant Gustin), Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) starts to have visions of Savitar, which he hides from the team. A dangerous secret threatens Barry and Iris’ (Candice Patton) happiness.
Supergirl
Snapper Carr interviews Supergirl herself in the synopsis for “Exodus”. Will he somehow be both catty and dismissive simultaneously? I think he might!
As Alex (Chyler Leigh) searches for Jeremiah (guest star Dean Cain) and Kara (Melissa Benoist) investigates a series of alien kidnappings, the sisters realise they must break the rules to foil a new Cadmus plot. In an effort to get Snapper Carr (guest star Ian Gomez) to run a story that would help her stop Cadmus, Kara agrees to set up an interview between Snapper and Supergirl.
Legends of Tomorrow
Finally for CW synopses, the Legends are trapped in the past in “Land of the Lost”.
After capturing Rip (Arthur Darvill), he forces the Waverider to crash, leaving the Legends stuck seventy million years in the past. Ray (Brandon Routh) leads Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) and Nate (Nick Zano) to recover a vital piece of the ship. In an effort to get the “good” Rip back, Rory (Dominic Purcell) suggests they enter Rip’s mind, but what Sara (Caity Lotz) and Jax (Franz Drameh) discover in his subconscious is not pleasant and they must fight evil versions of themselves. Meanwhile, Nate and Amaya continue to get closer, but it could cause serious ramifications.
Once Upon a Time
The May finale will introduce two new characters who may become series regulars, presuming the series is renewed for a seventh “reset” season. Which means, basically, that Once Upon a Time will retain its title and basic premise, but completely rotate or gradually phase out the main cast of characters.
These new characters will include a “strong yet vulnerable” man in his 20s or 30s, who, after facing some mysterious hardships, currently lives as cynical recluse — and a “precocious 10-year old” with “a constant twinkle of mischief in her eye”. [TV Line]
The Magicians
Finally, here’s a synopsis for the delightfully titled episode six of the current season, “The Cock Barrens”.
Quentin strives to help a friend who is suffering; Eliot and Margo’s negotiations take a shocking turn; Julia and Kady discover a possible key to stopping Reynard.
