Everyone You Want To Sing In The Flash/Supergirl Musical Crossover Will Sing

If there’s one thing to look forward to in 2017, it is the beaming explosion of pure, unadulterated joy that will be the Flash/Supergirl musical crossover episode. The CW has revealed new details about the special event, and now we know who’ll be lending their pipes to the proceedings — and when to expect it.

The CW has confirmed that “The Duet” will air as the 17th episode of Flash season three on March 21 in the US, although the crossover will begin in the proceeding episode of Supergirl airing the night before, March 20. Presumably, that means it will end with a brief sequence á la Supergirl “kicking off” the Invasion crossover last year, except hopefully with more jazz hands?

The network also confirmed earlier reports that the Music Meister will indeed be the cause of the all-singing, all-dancing shenanigans that will necessitate Barry and Kara teaming up. The character, who has the ability to control other people through the power of song, made their debut in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series, where he was voiced by Neil Patrick Harris — sadly, the CW have not confirmed whether Harris would be reprising the role.

They did, however, confirm who the Music Meister will end up getting to sing in the episode: Grant Gustin, Melissa Benoist, Jesse L. Martin, Victor Garber — who’s already sung on Legends of Tomorrow — Carlos Valdes, Jeremy Jordan and John Barrowman will all have performances in the episode, so it’s pretty much the members of the Supergirl and Flash casts with musical backgrounds already. Which should make for a lot of delightful fun! Supergirl‘s David Harewood and Chris Wood will also appear in the crossover, but specifically in non-singing roles, so don’t expect a J’onn J’onzz/Mon-El showtune interlude, sadly.

It’s already hard to top just how jaw-achingly fun the previous Flash and Supergirl team up was — I still think about that ice cream moment practically daily — but this is definitely on the way to rivalling it in terms of sheer joy. If you’ll excuse me, I need to go and listen to the Mayhem of the Music Meister! soundtrack on loop for the rest of the day.
