Lisa From TSA Wants You To Pick Up Your Laptop, Thanks

In October and November, around 70 people left their laptops at a single airport security checkpoint at Newark’s Liberty International Airport. It’s not only the cheap stuff that gets abandoned — a fair amount of Macbooks are getting left behind as well.

If 70 laptops get left behind at Newark Liberty Airport — the 15th busiest airport in the United States — in two months, how many lonely laptops live in the airports of the world? Resigned to existing in a stack of its peers. Yearning to be back in the hands of its neglectful owner.

Moreover, how the fuck could you forget your laptop? Don’t you love it too much to let it needlessly go?

Don’t do this to your computer. Don’t do this to yourself. Have some self-respect.

Yes, it’s annoying to take your computer out of your backpack while going through security, but it’s also annoying to take off your shoes and I’d bet people do a better job of remembering those.

Look, life is a series of pointless bureaucratic tests, post-9/11 airport security is a shining example of that. There’s nothing you can do about it except hold onto the fruits of capitalism — the objects society forces you to work for — and do not let go.

Please go rescue your laptop. It’s not too late.
