Google Now Tells You The Best Time To Book Your Flight

Google Flights is a solid travel booking service. In fact, in my experience, it’s even better than Kayak or Hipmunk at finding you the cheapest flight. Now Google is rolling out an update to the service that will alert you when the price of your flight is expected to increase.

This is useful when booking a flight because sometimes you need to know if you need to book now or if you can wait a few days. Google bases the pricing information on historical flight data so it won’t be perfect, but you’ll have a much better idea of knowing if booking now is really the best time.

As a side note, I used Google Flights to search for a trip I booked last week to Atlanta. With Kayak, my airfare was right at $US300 ($393). With Google Flights I could have booked a similar departure time for $US188 ($247). Take that, Kayak.

The Google Flights update is rolling out now and should be available to all users in the next few weeks. It will also work alongside the new Google Trips app that launched last month.
