Fans curious when they’d get to see the brand new Lara Croft are in luck. Warner Bros just gave the new Tomb Raider film, which stars Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander in the lead role, a US release date of 16 March 2018.

Roar Uthaug (The Wave) is at the helm for this film, which will show Croft as a young adventurer on her first journey. News of the release date is likely a sigh of relief for MGM, and producer Graham King, who have been trying to reboot this franchise for several years.
Vikander was cast in the role this past April, a few months after winning an Oscar for her performance in The Danish Girl. She got her big break as the lead character in Alex Garland’s Ex Machina and will next be seen in Jason Bourne.
