Also in store for demos from today — with limited stock available for sale — the Gear VR headset is $159 outright. You can also pick one up on a $5 24 month Go Mobile Plan with a $39 upfront payment.

Andrew Volard, Telstra’s Director of Devices, said "For the first time, we’re making virtual reality headsets available for customers to experience across our store network as part of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge launch. We think they’re going to be hugely popular.

"These clever headsets have sensors and a touchpad and work by drawing on the vivid screen, processing power and wireless connectivity of S7 smartphones.

"They can transport the wearer to another world, place them front row at a concert and send them sightseeing to far-flung cities. The immersive effect has to be seen to be believed. We will be hosting demonstrations at Telstra stores across the nation so our customers can experience it for themselves."

Wow. Telstra really are a bunch of rip-offs! $105 per month.....

I've been with Optus since about 1997, have never had an issue with either their cellular network nor their customer service, guess it helps I don't go regional too often! I resigned my contract on Wednesday for the S7 Edge with free VR for $80 a month which is free mobile/local and national/text and mms/ 300 mins of international a month and 4gb of data included. The VR headset is free because it was a promotional tool for pre-release sales.

Each to their own I guess.

Yea i just swapped from Telstra to Optus for the S7, partly because telstra couldn't guarantee they would have any VR's left but also because Optus gave an extra 5.5GB for the same price.

I had a look at the S7 and edge today in store, they are truly beautiful phones and look every bit worth the coin being asked, if I wasn't a phablet bloke I would be ordering one today, a very nice bit of gear. I look forward to seeing what Sammy does with the note 6,
I suspect judging by the S7 models it will be worth waiting for.
