Timelapse Shows The Hateful Eight From The Projectionist’s Perspective

Just a little longer to wait until The Hateful Eight hits Australian cinemas, but if you’re desperate — and don’t mind going meta — you can watch The Hateful Eight being played to other people, from the view of the projectionist.

A fellow by the name of Andrew Walker had the opportunity to join The Hateful Eight’s 70mm roadshow, where over the course of a fortnight, the movie’s 70mm version was shown close to 60 times.

Walker had his Nikon D810 handy and while unable to shoot the Hateful itself (for obvious reasons), he did the next best thing — photograph the film projectors in action.

He’s compiled the images into a timelapse and if you’ve ever wondered how a movie’s projection system works, this is a gorgeous way to learn. From the feeding and spooling of the reels to the actual projection of the film, it’s fascinating to watch.
