Remember last year how everyone freaked out when Apple cancelled the iPod Classic? For anyone who could bear to give up all that storage space, that was a golden opportunity to make a killing on eBay — but the moment appears to have passed.

Here’s a chart from eBay Australia showing what happened to the average selling price for the iPod Classic over the last year. Straight after the September cancellation, there was a massive spike when people realised there weren’t many good alternatives . (Note that mobile phone prices stayed flat and no-one wants any other kind of MP3 player.)

The selling price has since settled down a little, but is still much higher than it was back in 2010. Someone fetch me a time machine, pronto!
