The Asus Transformer Book Flip, one of the more-interesting-but-still-conventionally-attractive laptops announced at Computex in Taiwan this year, is finally out in Australia. Thankfully, Asus has expanded the lineup from the original two 15.6-inch variants it confirmed for local stores, with a variety of 13- and 15-inch laptops at different specs and price points already on sale.
Originally announced at Computex in early June, we thought that only two 15-inch variants, a $1099 Core i5 and a $1399 Core i7, would be landing Down Under. If you liked the look of the laptop but were turned off by the 15-inch form factor, a new Core i3 13-inch model has been added to the range at an entry-level $799 price tag.
If $1099 is too rich for your blood for the Transformer Book’s 15-inch, Core i5, discrete Nvidia 840M graphics-toting, 1TB storage variant, there’s also a new lesser 750GB variant with the same Core i5 processor but omitting the standalone graphics to lean on Intel’s integrated HD 4400. That’ll set you back $999. Asus says the Transformer Book Flip will be out “in September”, but I’m already seeing them available across a bunch of different online and big-box retailers.
