Seeing Scissors Being Made By Hand Is Mesmerising

You’ll get lost watching him work. I definitely did. Cliff Denton is a ‘putter’ for Ernest Wright & Sons, the last remaining hand manufacturer of scissors there is, and he literally puts together scissors with his hands. He’s a master at it. Watching him work is mesmerising and satisfying to see.

I love the constant tinkering that he does after the blades are put together to make them feel perfect. The short film, called The Putter, was made by Shaun Bloodworth. Ernest Wright & Sons have been making scissors in Sheffield, England since 1902.
