This Undulating Desk Top Has Specially Carved Crevices For Your Tech

From a distance, this desk look beautifully organic: an undulating and natural surface, rich with character. But get up close and you’ll realise that there are in fact cracks, crevices and electronics lurking within it designed especially for your tech.

Called Blidu, this desk is the work of German designer Tom Schuster. The beautiful slab of cherrywood includes carved slots designed to dock a tablet and smartphone, four USB hubs, holes for cables and a drawer to stash your laptop away.

The nice thing is that you can barely tell at a glimpse. That’s because the surface was developed using 3D software to look like a digitised version of some organic, wavy structure. The end product is a beautiful combination of form and function — though sadly it’s currently still a concept. [Tom Schuster via Design Boom]
