Split-screen multitasking is coming to the iPad iOS 8 when the new iteration of Apple’s mobile OS is announced next month at WWDC, according to Mark Gurman at 9to5Mac.
The new feature would allow you to divide you iPad home screen in half and use different apps on each side of the screen partition. According to the report, the new feature will make it easier for your to use the two apps together, as well as making it easier for them to more easily interact.
Although it’s not exactly a feature people have been clamouring for, split-screen multitasking would definitely be a shot at Apple’s competition. It’s similar to Microsoft’s snap multitasking on the Surface and also resembles the multitasking features added to larger Samsung Galaxy devices. Now that tablets are beautiful, it looks like manufacturers are finally putting those creative minds to work and making them useful. [9to5Mac]
