Stuck in your cubicle? Dreading work for the week? Wish you could go out, have fun, spend money, not work and still get paid? Then you (and every other person in this world) want to trade places with Andrew Smith. His job is Chief Funster for New South Wales. As in his job is to have fun. Seriously.
Smith, who’s from California, won a contest for the position and the role requires him to have 802,000 moments of fun in six months (that’s one for every square kilometre in NSW). So far, he’s done more than 480,000. Express.co.uk says that includes:
Skydiving, driving with Top Gear star The Stig, hanging out with skateboard legend Tony Hawk and abseiling down the spectacular Blue Mountains in Australia…
…187 high fives on the Sydney Harbor; mingling with 18,000 Elvii (the plural of Elvis) at the Parkes Elvis Festival; slipping down a 91-meter-long typhoon waterslide; and being chased by a massive pig at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
He started his fun journey in December and it runs through June. Once he finishes, he’ll score nearly six figures for having a fun time in a country that loves having fun. There’s more things on his schedule like climbing the Sydney Harbor Bridge and swimming with dolphins and so forth. You know, the usual work responsibilities. Check out some of his exploits below.
