Could This Be The Clean New Look For Android’s Built-In Calendar App?

The folks over at Geek.com got this sneak peek at a significantly updated test design for Timely, Google’s stock calendar app. If this is the final version that Android users will see, it will be a nice update.

Over at Geek.com, Russell Holly got the chance to play with an Android device running this purported new version of Timely. Visually, the new design is much cleaner. Gone are the hard grids and borders, replaced with blocks of colours to distinguish areas of the screen. Geek.com reports the unconfirmed build featured parallax scrolling and the same random header image selection used on the Chromecast home screen.

New features include a daily agenda (which competitors have had for a long time, but hasn’t appeared in Google Calendar yet) and social integration that pulls in data like birthdays from your contact list (including, of course, Google+ data).

Naturally, there’s no guarantee that this is the exact version of the app that will roll out to Android users. But if it ends up looking like this, it will be a nice update to an app that’s begun looking a little long in the tooth. Head over to Geek.com for more close-up images of this rumoured build, and try not to groan when you look back at your Android’s old design. [Geek]
