Torrent Site Popcorn Time, Shut Down Yesterday, Is Alive Again

That was quick. After closing up shop yesterday among the usual copyright questions , and just a week after its first launch, Popcorn Time is back. TorrentFreak has the story of how the project, abandoned by its founders, will live on at the hands of YTS developers.

In a conversation with TorrentFreak, YTS developer Jduncanator assures streaming movie fans that not much will change.

“The YTS team will now be picking up the Popcorn Time project and continuing on like previously. We are in a better position copyright wise as for us, because it’s build on our API, it’s as if we have built another interface to our website. We are no worse off managing the project than we would be just supplying the movies.”

Jduncanator promises the transition will be seamless. The project is on GitHub, with a public installer coming shortly. Torrent fans, time to start figuring out which movie you’ll download first. [TorrentFreak via TheTechBlock]
