Instead of giving your unwanted memory cards away to your parents, or putting them someplace safe where they’ll inevitably get lost, this easy-to-build kit lets you turn a bunch of unused microSD cards into a far more useful SSD drive.
Assembly is as easy as jamming four equally sized microSD cards — we’re assuming the drive’s on-board RAID controller needs them all of equal capacity — into four slots on the bottom of the circuit board, and then sticking into a 2.5-inch drive bay. Cards up to 32GB in size are supported, giving you a very usable 128GB of high-speed storage, and for best results you’ll want to stick with Class 10 cards.
At $80 it’s a relatively cheap way to get your hands on an SSD. As long as you’ve already got a stockpile of unused memory cards that you didn’t cheap out on in terms of speed and performance when you originally bought them, [GeekStuff4U]
