John McCain Got Caught Playing Poker During Syria Hearing

John McCain. United States Senator. 2008 Republican Presidential Nominee. American Hero. iPhone Poker Player during a fairly important Senate hearing about the use of force in Syria. Yep, The Washington Post captured Senator John McCain fooling around on his iPhone during a three-hour hearing about Syria.

McCain caught word that he'd been, well, caught and tweeted:

Scandal! Caught playing iPhone game at 3+ hour Senate hearing - worst of all I lost! — John McCain (@SenJohnMcCain) September 3, 2013

How the hell did he see what was going on in the game, with the tiny screen on the iPhone. Not purposely dissing the iPhone, but I've played poker on my gs4 and I could hardly see what was going on. It's not like he was holding it close to his face.

I'm sure the people or Syria are glad to know that a poker game is more important then what they are going through at the moment, especially considering the US will most likely be going in there which will result in more deaths.

Sen. McCain has been calling for action in Syria since the civil war began. He even visited Syria himself in May to meet the opposition leaders. Also if you didn't know, Sen. McCain was a POW in Vietnam where he suffered permanent injuries during captivity.

Him listening intently to his fellow Senators repeat the same points for over 3 hours isn't going to help the people of Syria anymore than if he took a nap (the guy's 77 years old).

All true, but a huge part of politics is "impression management". Doing this (or rather being caught doing this) makes it look like he doesn't care, even if that's not the case.
