This Amazing Photo Sums Up Yesterday’s Eclipse

Australians were gifted a stunning astronomical sight on Friday when the Moon, upset with playing second fiddle to a giant ball of plasma, decided it wanted its day in the sun. If, like me, you didn’t get (protected) eyes onto this display, this photo is a good consolation prize.

Put together by one Mike Hancock, it shows all the action of the annular eclipse. It kind of looks like someone’s taken a photo of a bunch of copper coins in a dark room with a single light, but then, I do have a somewhat active imagination.
