The New Pope Is Already On Twitter

You may have realised by now that there’s a new Pope. Along with the robes and ceremony and all those trappings, he’s also seen fit to revive the official papal Twitter account.

Benedict XVI only joined Twitter back in December, but the account he was using — @Pontifex — went silent when he announced he’d be resigning. Not long after the announcement that Pope Francis had been elected, the account — which only follows eight others but has more than 1.7 million followers — was revived, albeit with a single tweet

HABEMUS PAPAM FRANCISCUM

Which, if you didn’t study Latin, means “We Have A Pope Francis”. I wonder if anyone’s going to point out to him that he’s shouting?
