Need a place to squirrel away your digital stash? Box is giving 50GB of online storage free to new users.
Box will let you sync across both Mac and PC, and it has apps for Android, iOS, Outlook, BlackBerry PlayBook and a bunch of other platforms listed here. To get yours, just head over to Box here, sign up for an account and enjoy.
This is basically free space for any system you could conceivably use. The only disadvantage is Box has an upload size limit of 250MB. But 50GB is a lot of space for zero money, and most competitors like Dropbox, for example, only give you 25GB gratis. And who doesn’t like free stuff? [Box via SlickDeals]

or signup for a basic web hosting package and get 100GB of cloud storage that you have 100% control over.. may not be free but its under personal control, and no third party involvement either
What do you mean @bill Gates by "no third party involvement"
Does the web Hosting package 100Gig is free ?
Regards :D
H007, just referring to third party involvement in terms of who has access to your data, on box or drop box etc, they give you the space, for free, well since nothing is free they must be on selling the info they are getting from you to others, no one is giving GB's of data away for free without a catch, usually costs are covered by selling you on to the next player.
Pay a small monthly fee, I pay $6 a month for 100 GB of high speed, no limitation data storage and web hosting. As Gusbricker mentions below, Box has file size limits and speed issues, I'm only limited by the time I want to spendto upload my data and its always über fast.
Free never really is
The sad thing is that you seem to believe your data isn't being sold on, rather than realizing you're just paying $6 per month for the privilege of having it sold on.
Problem with Box cloud storage is the file size limits they impose are quiet restrictive, and its veryyyy slow!
Dropbox only gives you 2GB for free on a basic account. You can increase this with referrals and some other special offers (yearly scavenger hunt, beta program features).
Box also just recently (I mean within the last 6 months really) released the pc sync software too which was handy, but still it's awfully slow compared to DB. It's good for storing resources if you can wait for them to upload.
Anything but Mega hey ?
Not 50Gb, only 5
