The black hole at the centre of our galaxy isn’t happy. In fact, it’s spitting out its biggest X-ray flares ever, which are a hundred times more powerful than anything it’s ever produced before.
It’s not clear why it eject X-rays like this, but it sure looks angry when it does — just like in this image, which was captured by NASA’s Chandra X-Ray Observatory. [The Astrophysical Journal via New Scientist]
