The tremors will probably still wake you up in the middle of the night, but falling asleep in an earthquake-prone part of the world would be a little easier with this reinforced bed that can support up to 60 tonnes of debris.
The Wood Luck bed, created by Shinko Industries in Japan, is designed as a more cost-effective means of making a home earthquake resistant. At least it’s cost effective when compared to renovating the entire structure, since the cheapest version of the bed starts at a hefty $US5600. They’re made from 30-year-old cypress wood that is known for being incredibly strong, which probably contributes quite a bit to the price. But if you had to choose between resting your head on an IKEA bed or this during an earthquake, that price tag starts to seem a lot more reasonable. [DigInfo TV]

Why not just use normal/cheap pine and reinforce the thing with steel? You could then drop the price for this relatively ugly bed to under $250.
Your title says 60t, the picture above the bed says 25t, Not sure who to believe.
