These are the SOL Republic Tracks Ultra headphones. The company says these are its nicest, best headphones yet. But aside from the new name, the use of terms like “V12 Sound Engines” and a more expensive $US180 price tag, there’s no quantitative or even qualitative explanation as to why these are the company’s new pride and joy.
And it’s not like raw specs are all that matters. SOL Republic has made good products in the past. But when a fairly new, fairly popular company can only muster a response about how it doesn’t reveal spec sheets or product secrets, it starts to feel like we’re all pawns of an elaborate marketing campaign. I guess we’ll find out when we get our review units. [SOL Republic]
