Google is reporting that there’s a widespread outage of its Talk IM service. The company explains that it’s “aware of a problem with Google Talk affecting a majority of users”.
Google goes on to explain that “affected users are able to access Google Talk, but are seeing error messages and/or other unexpected behaviour.” There’s currently little news about when the service might return, but Google says it’s “continuing to investigate this issue”.

yep, it is sending messages twice, telling me the other person is offline and cannot receive messages when they AINT.
Enough people use Gtalk to make this news? Woah.
Um, yes, yes they do. It's one of the most popular IM services in the world.
It's not big in Australia Australia, but GChat is very popular in the US (along with AIM, surprisingly)
I use it on my phone instead of SMS. It being down is a real pain.

Not being able to use hangouts briefly upset my guild's raid plans. We just used Skype, but, very reluctantly... remember when Skype had a nice, friendly UI?
