The First Wedding Ever To Be Filmed With Ultra High Definition 3D Cameras

Wedding videos tend to end up looking cheesy. But not this one. This one was filmed with RED Epic cameras on 5K resolution and 3D! These are the same cameras Ridley Scott used for Prometheus and Peter Jackson is using for The Hobbit.

Our friend Peter Chang — from Golden Gate 3D — sent us the teaser trailer for the world's first 3D wedding video shot in stereoscopic 3D on 5K resolution RED Epic cameras. They didn't take any photos, as "each frame can also be extracted as a high-resolution 3D still image". That's a technique that some photographers are using now with mixed results — although most photographers don't film with RED Epics.

The wedding was celebrated at The Mirador Estate, in Montecito, near Santa Barbara, California. Peter says that the garden was in full spring bloom, "resulting in some gorgeous 3D visuals to complement Julia and Stuart — the bride and groom".

I hope Julia and Stuart had a 3D TV listed in their wedding registry.

What do you think? Maybe a bit overkill? Perhaps, but I can guarantee you that most brides would feel jealous. [Thanks Peter!]

This couples just took off on a 3d flight, sign of a happly ever after marriage...lol

    Looks good except...

a lot of shots have sync issues - look at the clapping on a still frame
shot at 37 seconds is out of sync by at least a frame
shot at 40 seconds is left/right reversed.

    good depth and compositions though.

meh, he totally missed their kiss.

Why waste all that awesome tech on a video nobody will ever watch again?

Good idea and this will definately take off within the next decade as more people bring 3D TVs and Blu Rays into their living rooms.

I would like to send them my LG LM9600 3D cinema smart TV as their wedding gift. :D

Wow, 3D wedding? That's pretty creative, gotta admit. We recently purchased a 3D TV from LG and my wife's always complaining about not having enough 3D contents. I love her and all but if I happen to have another wedding in the future (fingers crossed) I'm gonna shoot my wedding in 3D.
