KFC Australia Wants To Bring Back The Double

Heads up, bacon fans: KFC Australia wants to bring back its breadless burger, known locally as the Double, but only if you like its Facebook page.

What is the Double you ask? It's a burger unlike anything I've ever seen: two bacon strips, two cheese slices and "special" sauce, all wrapped around two pieces of fried chicken. This thing needs a warning on it.

It caused a stir when it was released last year as a promotional menu item. Truth be told, it's not the worst thing in the world you can eat according to Angus Kidman's breakdown over at Lifehacker, but it's certainly not awesome for you, or for your gadgets.

KFC Australia posted on its Facebook page yesterday that it will bring back the breadless, bacon-laden burger if it hits half a million Likes on its fan page:

We love our fans. When we hit 500,000 fans, we’ll bring back the Double. Who’s excited?!? For 2 days, you’ll be able to get your hands exclusively on the Double. So hit like and share this with your mates and here’s to relishing the Double again!

But... this was my secret guilty pleasure! I'm not sure if I want my friends knowing that I want it back....

Therein lies the rub! Reveal your shame to taste Double again. Crafty bastards.

I feel like I should post this
        http://www.epicmealtime.com/videos/2010/11/8/the-double-kill.html

KFC is allowed to sell heart attacks? Go figure.

You're an idiot, less calories than a original recipe bucket or an actual burger.

I do believe I had one of those, but it was a case of damn this is nice but I doubt I will eat another one ever again

Oh yeeeahhhh. Had a Double when it was available and it was gooood! I eat fast-food liek once a month so it wouldn't be a weekly food item, but damn it was full of meaty goodness.

check out this mammoth KFC mantime effort!!

still brings a tear to my eye when i look at that mantime skewer i devoured... what a meal.. would love the opportunity to do it again... bring it back please.. i still have my skewer here and waiting!

I will admit, out of all fast food, KFC is a guilty pleasure.

But I just couldn't get into this, maybe I just got some shitty chicken, but it was not good.

I still don't understand all the fuss. I bet the people complaining about it would still eat a Chicken Parmy at the pub without even batting an eyelid.

+1 and some of the other meals they offer at KFC like the ultimate burger meal with a burger, crispy strips, chips, potato and gravy, and a piece of original recipe. Heck a 600ml softdrink is probably worse than the double.

Add to that the bun you don't get is full of sugar, salt, and carbs.

It's all image with this thing.

Has anyone read the comments underneath, no one wants the double back if they could get their mashies! BRING BACK THE MASHIES!

      I wholeheartedly agree with this.
      We want Mashies!

Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie Mashie with potato and gravy. MMmmMMMM Im a potato!

All this talk of fast food and guilty pleasures makes me want some salad to be honest...I seem to be getting that fast-food sinking feeling just by reading this story again!

The first one I tried was delicous but the second nad last tasted like crap.

A Hot 'n' Spicy version - I'd eat my last nad for that too!

I never got why this was such a shocker. I mean, it's just two pieces of chicken, some bacon, and some cheese. If they weren't put together like a burger it wouldn't be any worse than getting a two piece feed.

Or maybe it's just because it's almost lunchtime and that picture looks delicious right now.

How about instead you actually make HOT & SPICY A REGULAR ITEM IN MELBOURNE??

I can't believe that it is a limited time affair, in WA it is a permanent fixture on the menu, but here in Melbourne we have to wait six months between "specials" to have a one month chance to get H&S???

    FIX UP PLS KFC :(

It's the same in Canberra, Sydney gets it all the time, Canberra only comes around every few months.

Sydney doesn't get it all the time, we get once a year, twice at most.

I loved the doubles when they were available if I die eating I want it to be cause of those

All this talk about the dirty bird is making me hungry. I am off there now!

all aboard the cholesterol express...mmmmmmmmmmmmm cholesterolllll

    This thing tastes terrible.

Either bring it back or don't. I don't "like" on Facebook because a company wants to bribe me into liking on the promise of a possibility of bringing back a product that they will sell....

agreed, this reminds me of the assassins creed promo they did over facebook to unlock the premier trailer, this marketing crap over social media is starting to get annoying, though there are plenty of idiots that will click like anyway...

I've had food poisonong, as well as friends too many times from KFC.

    Will never ever eat again.

Meh, who cares if its a heart attack in wrapping, if someone wants to eat it then thats there desicion :) I tried it, and kind of enjoyed it, was just a bit too greasy for me though...

9,585 likes to go. Goddamn I want that thing, even just once more. It's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be, and what's so bad about more boneless chicken breast and bacon? Also removes that sugary and calorie-ridden bun.

Am I mistaken, this just seems like marketing HYPE to ENSURE profit.
If you like this we'll do it for two days !
What needy crap from a corporation !

Want want want want. These were so good.
