Intel’s Going To Make Your Laptop Charge Your Phone Wirelessly

Charging your phone sucks, but if all you had to do was set it down next to your laptop, which you probably do anyway, that wouldn’t be so bad, right?

That’s Intel’s idea for inductive charging, which it’s showing off at Computex. The setup would stick a charging attachment to your phone — though eventually it would probably be built in — just like inductive charging now, but instead of a dedicated charging pad, you’d just slide your phone up next to your laptop. Once you do, there’s a notification noise and a popup indication telling you that power’s routing from the laptop to your phone.

Inductive charging is one of those hyper-cool future-tech ideas that isn’t exactly practical in the real world just yet, so here’s hoping Intel can make this a reality. [Verge]
