Religious sites had and average of 115 software threats, while porn sites only had 25. The religious sites were mostly full of fake antivirus software, which sounds relatively harmless, but it can leave an unsuspecting user’s computer totally vulnerable. Symantec wasn’t able to come up with a good explanation for why the religious were such a popular target for the fake software. [Symantec via WSJ]

Um.... maybe they think that religious people are gullible? That is why they are being targeted.
Because religious people are gullible, Symantec just couldn't say that was the reason because of the backlash from religious groups.
Believing in gods or ghosts, or aliens isn't the same thing as falling for scams.
The far more likely explanation is that much older, less technically experienced people are the ones that visit religious sites more (your granny etc), so it's much easier to give them malware or viruses.
The church taking your money is a lot like a virus stealing your credit card details, it all goes to benefit a few. But I would put it down as, workplaces like to block porn, whereas religion is free to view everywhere.
It's because of the implied honesty and integrity of those sites that people are more likely to let down their guard.
I vote all of the above
More likely, lack of money spend on IT.
Porn makes heaps of money, most Churches.
Yep, have to agree.
Using 'Do Not Track Plus' here at Life Hacker 5 trackers are being blocked.
Visited a few religious sites and 3 to 5 trackers were blocked.
Visited a few of my regular porn sites and only 1 tracker on each site was found. That being Google Analytics.
Seven different sites is clearly enough research Im willing to do.
Its because they don't want to get virus when they visit porn site after they close the religious site
:p
