Did you know that Thomas Edison got his first job as a telegraph operator after saving the daughter of a station agent from an oncoming train? Or that he didn’t invent the lightbulb, but instead created the first commercially-viable version?
Were he, by some remarkable feat of science, still alive today, Thomas Edison would be enjoying his 165th birthday. And to celebrate, I suggest you take some time, three minutes to be exact, to brush up on his life and achievements. While he might not have been the US’s greatest inventor, like Steve Jobs he had the business savvy to capitalise and bring a great idea to the masses. Even if it unfortunately meant electrocuting an elephant along the way. (Edison, not Jobs.) [YouTube via Neatorama]
