Wait, is this right? RIM’s update to its PlayBook OS is actually good? High-fives are currently flying in meetings across North America.
And it’s not just that PlayBook’s finally going to have native email and calendar support. That’s a great first step, but it’s also just smooth and attractive and usable. There’s a better keyboard with text prediction, easier text formatting, and an updated contact management system that incorporates your Twitter and LinkedIn information. The update should be available in February. Who knows if that’s too late, but it’s definitely not too little.
Well played, BlackBerry. Well played. [BlackBerry]

Friday, January 13, 2012 at 8:17 PMUnfortunately for RIM, it’s too late. There’s no compelling *reason* to use Blackberry products any more.
My company just dumped Blackberry, (and I’ve gone Android).
RIM will get bought, its few useful patents applied to other products.
It will go down in history as a lesson in why class leaders need to keep innovating rather than rest on their laurels.

Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 6:00 AMI really don’t understand this RIM is dead mentality. They make a great product. I’ve had an iphone then to a torch to a galaxy S2 then had to go get a 9900 just because I find Blackberries to be far better phones.
People will carry on that they don’t have the apps and all the other reasons for RIM bashing but if does what “you want” what does it matter?
It seems that if a company isn’t pulling #1 or #2 they are doomed or if they aren’t turning billion dollar sales.
There are 7.5 million BB users out there. More than enough to sustain a company.
