How To Access Wikipedia During The Blackout

Wikipedia may be going dark within an hour in protest of SOPA/PIPA but that doesn't mean it's going offline completely. With very little work, you'll be able to access the online encyclopedia tomorrow — even if it does go against the spirit of the protest.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a Wikimedia spokesman confirmed today that the mobile version of the website will remain online at en.m.wikipedia.org. Also, any API that pulls information from the Wikipedia servers will remain active as well. That means you'll also still be able to access Wiki content through Facebook. You could also use Google cache. [WSJ]

    What about disabling javascript?

I believe disabling JavaScript or simply hitting escape before the page fully loads will do the trick too.

Disabling JavaScript does indeed work. I use NoScript & it blocks it fine!

yeah all you need to do is click stop while the page is loading! works fine in chrome!

I can confirm that disabling JavaScript will make a seamless viewing of Wikipedia for your pleasure.

"Is it still possible to access Wikipedia in any way?
The Wikipedia community, as part of their request to the Wikimedia Foundation to carry out this protest, asked us to ensure that we make English Wikipedia accessible in some way during an emergency. The English Wikipedia will be accessible on mobile devices and smart phones. You can also view Wikipedia normally by completely disabling JavaScript in your browser, as explained on this Technical FAQ page." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:SOPA_initiative/Learn_more

Search what you want with wiki at the end in google.

    Click the link.

When it loads hit "Control A"

paste somewhere else once the blackout loads.

All I did was load the website, and right before it redirects I hit stop... Information accessed.
