The Many Hazards Of Being A Photographer For National Geographic

Working for the famous adventure magazine isn’t all just exotic locales and spectacular photo ops; there’s a fair amount of danger that goes hand-in-hand with the glamour. Here are just a few of the things that can go wrong on expedition.

The Photo Society, a group of shutterbugs that regularly contribute to National Geographic Magazine, polled 45 of its members about their experiences in the field and tabulated the results. Their mishaps range from paraglider crash landings and arrests to flesh-eating bacterial infections and getting stoned (with rocks not weed). And, somewhere in Florida, a panther patiently waits — third time’s the charm, right?

Check out the full list of pitfalls and hazards these intrepid photogs face every time they’re on assignment at The Photo Society.

Haha that’s crazy, feel really bad for the guys that seat belt released over a volcano. Feel bad for all of them actually, what brave people.

out of 45 of them, 90 had severe diarrhea? That’s REALLY severe diarrhea! Or am I adding up the numbers wrong (probably)

Logic tells me that a person can be affected by diarrhea on more than one occasion. Thus, one person experienced two cases of diarrhea. Or am I adding up the numbers incorrectly? Probably not. :)

I just googled “loa loa worm in the eye” that’s inside the eyeball people. I’ll take assault by Panther with diarrhea in an acid dripping cave over that one.
