Do you hate the way Gmail looks now? You can make it more familiar with very, very, very little effort.
Open Gmail. Click the cog icon on the upper right corner. Select “Compact”. Pow, all of your threads are smushed together, closely resembling the old style. Exhale. [Geekosystem]

First thing I did was find compact mode, if it wasn’t there I’d probably of left gmail given with 720p I only had about 7 threads available on screen with default.

Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 12:38 PMThis deserved an article? You serious? Everyone I know switched to Compact the second the new Gmail came around, to show the same information as old. It’s only a click away.

Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 1:16 PMI only noticed last week that there was the option to go to the compact veiw. I’m sure that there are plenty of others out there who missed the cog like I did!

Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 3:11 PMI actually prefer the additional white space. I hated the previous design and love the new one. And I agree with Steve, I dont think this actually deserved a new article in itself, but at the same time applaud Gizmodo for keeping us all extra informed as we shouldnt assume that everyone knows how to change views in the new look Gmail.

Friday, January 13, 2012 at 7:21 PMThe compact view is just one aspect of the disaster the Google is forcing on people. The colour schemes available are worse than apalling, there are many (probably closer to 50 than to 20) valuable parts of the much-loved Gmail which are missing in the new, and the gimmicky use of non-standard icons is a disgrace. The least Google could have done was allow people who didn’t want this huge change to stay with what they love.
