Up until now, recording HD content to an iQ box with Foxtel has only given you about 30 hours worth of recording time. But Foxtel has started to inform customers that they are offering a new 1TB iQHD PVR, increasing the amount of HD recording space to about 140 hours. Yay!
Wait a minute… Before you get to excited, know that to upgrade from your current iQHD box, you’re going to have to pay a one-off $200 installation fee. 200 bucks for a guy to come out and screw in some cables? I now remember why I no longer have Foxtel… While the extra space would be a godsend, that installation fee is ridiculous…
[Thanks Tipster!]

Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 9:09 AMNick – a serious question – why did you give up Foxtel? I have Foxtel but am struggling trying to justify the price especially now we’re expecting a baby soon and money will be a little tighter.

Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 9:09 AMFoxtel will never learn. Reduce your fees and better programming you may see more people use the services. I would pay no more then $50 a month for the full HD plat services.

Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 9:24 AMYeah, I have foxtel paying $90 without HD channels, hardly watch it now, only watch the english premier league, asked them if that was available on Xbox but its not. $200 for installation, what a joke, you don’t even keep the box. I have fetch TV from iiNet and now reduced to $20 pm for the box as well as the extra channels which though not at much as Foxtel allow me extra options when channel surfing.

Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 3:40 PMhuh? I had Foxtel 360 subscription and there definitely was EPL. Not as many sports channels as the real thing though. And the lack of EPL on demand meant I could never watch what I wanted when I wanted, so I canceled. No contract so that was good, I might rejoin if they have EPL on demand again.

Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 9:36 AMI love my Foxtel especially the SciFi and Documentary channels… but I can’t justify the 200bucks for an upgraded model… I just record, watch and delete the shows to make space.

Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 9:42 AMWith all the connections on the back, it would seem more practical to enable external hard-drive recording, but then they couldn`t charge for that.

Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 10:33 AMMaybe $200 would be reasonable if they enabled the ability to copy the recordings to another device (PC/NAS etc) at some point.

Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 1:16 PMI’m the tipster. Thanks for blocking out the Name/Customer number =D
I really don’t understand the Foxtel hate. Of course you’re going to get bored of it after 3 years, there’s not an infinite amount of TV shows they can broadcast. There’s only so many episodes of Law and Order, Scrubs, Seinfeld, Groundhog day that they can show, so after a few years you’re basically paying for whatever they show exclusively, which is mainly sport.

Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 1:24 PMIf you read the details there is no mention of a guy coming out. It says they’ll send the box directly to your door. So to add to the excessive $200 you have to install in yourself!
