RIM Sued Over Its Worldwide Outage Debacle

Remember the Great BlackBerry Doodie-Storm of 2011, when RIM’s messaging services were crippled across the world for three days? Poor Lazaridis and the gang can’t catch a break: Now they’re facing class action suits in Canada and the US over the outages.

Both lawsuits were filed on Wednesday; the US suit accuses RIM of breach of contract, negligence and unjust enrichment, while the Canadian suit said that RIM didn’t compensate customers for service time lost. RIM is expected to plead no contest to the secondary charge of being Canadian. [Guardian]
